What isn't there to like? A detective so hard bitten he is *literally* made of metal, a presumably beautiful but dimwitted movie star, a kidnapped child, a murderous gang...Well, the first thing I don't like is that I want to read the first book in the series!! Our author (who is a personal friend of mine, at least before I wrote this review, and sent me a free copy) has started us out in the middle of the life and story of our hard-bitten detective, with a whole lot of backstory hovering around the edges, and I want in on the ground floor!
My other complaint is that this is a short story, and I felt like we were hardly getting going before the book was over.
I really liked the moral/technical quandry (I won't spoil the story by saying what it was) that our hero found himself in toward the end. I disagreed with his conclusion, but it makes for an interesting innner conflict, one which we hope we will see again.

Aliens of the Stars A Davion O'Shea Story edition by Kevin Chilton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This latest installment in the Davion O'Shea series was even better than the first. Same engaging narrative/compelling storyline as before, but I also appreciated the continued development of O'Shea's character from the first book as well, as he struggles internally with his own identity as a result of the events in the story. Excellent read!
This short story was quick not because of easy writing (it's well written) but because of the drive-you-forward action. I stayed up way too late one night to finish reading it. The storyline keeps you turning pages while ensuring that the reader understands characters and plot twists and sci-fi terminology.
I appreciated how the narrator spoke with such authority and confidence--very fitting for his role as detective and part-machine. Even though there were several futuristic terms thrown in there, it becomes obvious what everything means without the author defining things outright. Again, good writing.
I recommend this book to those who like action, appreciate sci-fi, and gravitate toward mystery.
a riveting sequel to the The Renegade (there's enough recap that you'd still enjoy it without reading the first one...but the first one is so good, i don't know why you'd want to do that;)
same exciting, fast-paced style, but still very detailed and descriptive.
i love a good story that draws you in and makes you feel like you're in the world of the story, experiencing, and almost seeing the action yourself, and this was definitely one of those stories!
i'd had it on my kindle app for a while, but never got around to reading it. but then one night, i got in bed and it was already late, but i thought i'd just read the first chapter... yeah...i read the first chapter, and then the next, and the one after that, and before i knew it, it was way too late. but i didn't notice that until i'd finished it!
i got lost in Mr Chilton's world of Davion O'Shea, and i think that's a great indicator of a captivating, well-told story.
