When former foster child Lucienne Smith is offered $50,000 to be a surrogate for an ex-boyfriend and his wife, she says yes. She plans to buy the lodge where she’s been working and realize her dream of converting it to a camp for disadvantaged kids. Then she’ll finally have a home. But things go terribly wrong. Now, twelve years later, she must tell her daughter the truth about what really happened.
On the wild, rocky shores of Lac-Poisson-du-Ciel, Lucienne Smith has retreated from her past as a foster child and her job as a caseworker for the Toronto Children's Agency. Auberge Ciel, the hunting and fishing lodge where she’s currently working, has been a haven, and now she wants to buy it to fulfill her dream of starting a camp for disadvantaged kids and finally having a home of her own. All she needs is the money.
A chance meeting with her ex-lover, Nick Talbot, presents her with the opportunity to earn fifty thousand dollars. She pushes aside her personal and moral qualms and agrees to be a surrogate for Nick and his wife, who are unable to have children. Convinced that she’s doing a good deed for a worthy couple, she soon learns that things are not what they seem. Secrets, lies, and love triangles turn Lucienne’s surrogacy into a nightmare. And then she falls for Nick again.
Set in Quebec, Nova Scotia and Vermont, Finding Home is Lucienne’s confession to her now twelve-year-old daughter, detailing her unusual and alarming journey to motherhood, happiness and true love.

A really interesting take on surrogacy. I loved the main character, Lucienne, and so wanted things to work out for her. What a great read!
